A 5 day Juice Feast & Body-Spirit Connection
Last week I did 5 days Juice Feasting. Many of you know that I have a long history of Juice Feasting, and many are familiar. If you are not, please click here and enjoy massive amounts of information!

Happy 2010!
My 2010 has been great so far, yours too? New Year’s Eve for me was participation in an inipi sweat lodge at the Tree of Life, led by Parashakti and a man named Alberto, who is an indiginous native american medicine man from Mexico. It was a really powerful lodge that felt very joyful and celebratory.

A Recap of an Epic 2009: Part 1
2009 was quite a profound year for me, indeed. Here are some of the highlights of my 2009:
Had a fantastic Christmas vacation where my family lives in Utah. I made raw food for my omnivorous friends and family, and they loved it!

A Recap of an Epic 2009: Part 2
I went to Santa Barbara for the Raw Spirit Festival. I swam in the ocean, went to a raw food restaurant with my brother, and hiked to a tippy-top peak in Ventura.
I light-speed downloaded ridonkulous amounts of information at the Interdependence Day Celebration, a 4-day workshop at the Tree of Life where David Wolfe and Gabriel Cousens, M.D., basically lecture and answer Q&A for 8 hours a day. Whoa.

Among the Rockies
Greetings, Earthlings 🙂
I am currently on a holiday vacation to visit my family in Park City, Utah. I feel very blessed that it is the town I get to ‘come home’ to, because it’s really picturesque and charming both in its city qualities and its natural beauty.

Your Questions Answered
I did Raw for a while – LOVED it – but lost a ridiculous amount of weight and finally ended up going back to cooked to stop everybody from thinking I was anorexic. Did you ever have problems with too much weight loss when you did it? How do you get enough calories without overdoing the fat?

New York City Part 2
Saturday in New York City!
I met up with Philip, Dhrumil and Tisa at Quintessence for lunch. I had a FoFu Benedict, which was freaking epic. After, we stopped by One Lucky Duck and I indulged in their ‘moon pie,’ a chocolate dessert which several people in Patagonia tied me to a chair and made me promise I would get. As anticipated, it was perhaps the most impressive raw dessert accomplishment I have experienced thus far.

New York City – Part 1
Greetings to you my dears! I am back among the cacti after a great time in the big apple. Sadly, my camera has met its demise due to green juice spillage, so I have somewhat limited pictures for you.
Wednesday, a week ago, I flew out of Tucson to Salt Lake City. Salt Lake is a perfect layover city for me, because my family lives nearby in Park City, so I spent time with them. Then, I took a red eye to NYC, and despite being sure I would be able to sleep, didn’t sleep at all.

Just Pushing through the Soil :)
I have felt a bit of shame and fear the few times I have gotten on my blog and ‘confessed’ (yikes) that I didn’t go along with my planned fast or whatever I intended to do. As you can conclude, I haven’t yet started my juice feast in preparation for my liver flush. I will tomorrow, because at this point I have to, as part of the protocol, but I had planned to start earlier for even better results.

3 Years at the Tree of Life
Three years ago today, I arrived to the little town of Patagonia and the Tree of Life. The dynamic of the Tree of Life felt very odd and foreign to me: a raw food center and community in the middle of nowhere in the desert, outside a tiny little town of 800 residents.

One Day of Juice Feasting
I Juice Feasted Friday, which felt fantastic after so much food on Thanksgiving. Yesterday I planned my day poorly and was caught at about 1pm having not had anything and spacing out while needing to be productive, so I did about 1/2 eating and 1/2 juicing yesterday. Today, I am going out and about with a friend, a previous engagement I had forgotten about, so will be eating as well. Juice to commence tomorrow. These days my juicing doesn’t seem to always go according to intention… and, I’m fine with that :)

Thanksgiving Celebrations
Yesterday was my 5th vegan Thanksgiving and was it DELISH. The Tree of Life hosted their annual day of activities, such as group meditation and music, and Thanksgiving potluck. I estimate about 75 people showed up, plus employees, seva and local community. I didn’t intend to end up with mostly food pictures, but I did… Here are some of my favorites from the potluck.

A Day of Bliss
My Koali was the winner of Arizona’s ‘A Night of Bliss’ contest by the company Coconut Bliss, maker of epic delicious vegan ice cream based on coconut!

Emotional Eating: An Update
It’s been a few months since I wrote about this process of mine. I’m in an interesting place. I’m eating more out of hunger than I have ever before, but I am still using food compulsively and emotionally pretty often.
I’m finding myself becoming tiresome of using food and finding it doesn’t play the roles it used to as adequately. The thought and attraction to eat generally gives way to a bit of a melancholy realization that just having eaten really didn’t do much for me. I find myself wondering, ‘Well, what was the point of that?’ This is odd for me because historically food has had major power in my life to change how I’m feeling.
Raw Recipes by TOL Cafe – Eggplant Canneloni
Eggplant Canneloni
This is a gourmet recipe, a compliment from the Tree of Life Café. Enjoy!
Another Type 1 Diabetes Reversal
Michele, a woman with Type 1 Diabetes, whom I booked for the Reversing Diabetes Naturally program this spring. Michele completely reversed her Type 1 Diabetes in 21 days.
Please note that Gabriel Cousens, M.D. does NOT recommend anyone come of insulin, oral hypoglycemics or any other medications without the supervision of a qualified physician.
