60 Day Juice Feast – Day 20

SNATAM KAUR! Tonight a bunch of us ‘Tree people’ (those a part of the Tree of Life community) went to Tucson to see this angel Snatam Kaur make her magic. The performance was held in a beautiful, large yoga studio – the nicest I’ve ever seen. Wow, what an experience – there is nothing like seeing her live. Her music, voice and presence just blew everyone away!!

Today’s Feast, in order of consumption:

28 oz. spinach/apple/celery/grape/cranberry juice
32 oz. green juice w/ lemon, cayenne, turmeric and 1 TBS spirulina
3 TBS bee pollen mixed w/ 1 TBS hemp oil and 1 TBS spirulina **11/09/07 – Don’t do superfood pastes on a juice feast like I did!**
30 oz. green juice w/ lemon, cayenne, turmeric and 1 TBS spirulina

I haven’t done as much MSM lately. I normally drink lots of water with MSM, and since I haven’t been drinking much water on this feast, I sort of forget…

Tonight I got some really good information from David Rainoshek. I asked him what to do about my drive for bee pollen. He said I’m probably just not drinking enough juice. Apparently, when he and Katrina juice feast, they drink 6 quarts of juice and 4 quarts of water each, for a total of 2 gallons of liquid per day! I’ve been doing just over 4 quarts (and sometimes not quite making that), and maybe 16 oz of water per day. WOW. That means I’m doing at most, half of what I could be doing in regards to liquid quantity. Talk about a wake up call. I’m going to start trying to do a gallon and a half minimum – at least 5 quarts juice and 1 quart water. Mmm mm.

David also reminded me of the importance of exercise. I know this, I just haven’t made it a priority in my time planning every day. But he is right – drinking juice is only half of the equation!

I’ve also been asked about my budget on this juice feast. How do I afford to juice feast? Well, there are several parts to answering that question. I am very lucky in that part of my compensation at work (I am a Representative for Dr. Gabriel Cousens’ Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center) is that I normally get all my meals free at the Tree of Life Cafe. Since I’m not eating, I have been exchanging a few juices for meals. So, I get about 2 quarts of green juice from the Cafe each day. That’s about half of my minimum gallon per day, so it really helps.

Beyond that, I buy everything on my own – I always shop for low prices, I buy fruits that have a lot of water in them and I can get a lot of juice out for less $$. I also buy bulk when I can – especially items such as citrus, apples, and greens, which I use a lot of. For example, I can buy 40 lbs of oranges at my co-op for $42, which equates to about $1.05/lb. David Rainoshek estimates juice feasting to cost between $10-$15/day in the U.S., and I think I’m pretty close to that. When you think about it, $10-$15/day is really doable – most of us spend that much in meals, snacks and beverages anyways, and I know I for one easily spend about that much in raw chocolate every day (wink). And think about it – $10 – $15/day on produce and superfoods gets you SO far nutritionally – you’re getting SO much ‘bang for your buck‘ by feeding yourself this way.

The second part to address the issue of budget is priority. This juice feast is an incredible gift and opportunity for myself in so many ways. My health is number one in my life. I choose to not spend extra money on other things – clothes, jewelry, magazines, movies, etc. – so that I can have plenty to invest in the most important thing we have on the physical plane – our bodies. I would sooner move to a tiny apartment, sell my car or do whatever I would need to than I would give up my commitment to my health, longevity, and well-being. A few years ago, when I was just discovering alternative medicine and natural health, I vowed to never spend a second on doubt and worry that I would be able to provide for my health. Truly, I think this refusal to compromise my health is why there always seems to be just enough money for me to provide for my health. If you believe in the idea that we create our reality through our thoughts and beliefs, this will make sense to you. I have work to do, no doubt – I want to create prosperity in my life and I have many limiting beliefs that still hold me back from the full flow of that abundance. I have plenty of circumstances that could potentially get in the way of affording to support my health, as most of us do – student loans, car loans, rent, utilities, etc. But again – I feel I have been so determined in that I will never settle for less than I need for my health, that my life has rearranged itself in accordance with that decision and has supported my ability to finance choices such as juice feasting, the raw diet, and supplements.

For me, there is no alternative to taking care of myself. Inspiring others to health, happiness, creativity, and providing tools for them to create their own amazing life is my passion. Providing for my health and well being is just non-negotiable. For me to not put my health, happiness, and well being first as a priority would be so ridiculous – what would I be doing otherwise? I’d be suffering because of my inability to nurture my life’s mission. And even more important is the fact that when I am in incredible health, overflowing with passion, joy, and creativity, inspired beyond belief – that is when I can help others. I can’t help others and serve others and the earth when I am struggling within myself physically or otherwise.

Thanks for the opportunity to express

Courtney
