Juice Feast Prep and Rattlesnake Adventures
Greetings to you on this last day of solid foodness for me Synchronistically, the TOL Cafe made of their best desserts today, chocolate tiramisu, fully enjoyed by me as the last dessert for a while.
This morning I gathered a nice bunch of garden greens from our dome greenhouse โ kale, chard, parsley, cilantro, spinach and snap peas. They shall be juiced tomorrow โ YUM! I am excited for the added dynamic of garden grown greens to this juice feast. The last one I did was in the late autumn/winter, and the garden was mostly bare โ thus leaving me with mostly imported produce from California to make juice from. This year, there is an abundance of overflowing greens and other items to include, and I have a feeling itโs going to make me EXTRASUPERCHARGED.
Yesterday I joined a few friendsa for another adventure on the fantastic hike/rock climb I have blogged about. The dramatic and EPIC name for it is the โSacred Journey of the Conscious Warriorsโ. This particular venture included a pretty, how to word it, *intense* experience. About halfway through the slot canyon (which takes altogether about 40 minutes when the water level is low as it is now), we encountered a baby rattlesnake. Now, baby rattlesnakes are more dangerous than adults because they will bite with all of their venom, whereas adults only give a small amount. The snake (likely about 12-14 inches long) sensed us approaching and began rattling its tiny rattler and raising its head. We didnโt turn back though, and instead pulled off one of these moves (see pic at right) and climbed just a few feet above it. Exhilarating. Possibly idiotic (actually, the more idiotic choice was telling my mom that I scaled rock walls a few feet over a rattlesnake), and exhilarating.
In gratitude and excitement,
Courtney
