The Real Allure
Well friends, how are ye all? I am writing this post once again with gratitudefor this wonderful online medium we have for community.
It has been a spectacular week for me of healing, opening, creating new
patterns and breaking old ones. It has recently come apparent to me I have many more fears and insecurities than I thought I had, and so I have been letting them come up freely. I feel like I’ve taken a huge leap forward this week in my own inner strength and dedication to living my life for me.
A lot has been signifying me to be more intentional in my schedule and my choice of activities – urging me to check in with myself more often to see what I really want to do, what my priorities are. I realized I need to bring more intentionality and conscious choice to how I spend my time – I had started to just sort of do whatever came up instead of consciously choosing, in every moment, which activities support my highest self and my priorities. It was time to take my power back. In fact, in a moment this week where I was feeling rather lost about, well, everything, thinking about this subject I decided to draw an ‘angel card’ just out of curiosity, and low and behold, the message I got was,
“Tenacity means sticking to a decision and not allowing outside forces to sway you… Be in charge of your body, your schedule, and your mind, and keep them focused upon your target. Stay positive. Know what your priorities are and take action on them. Take control of
your schedule. Release all doubts.”
These cards are so right on every time Time is so precious, and the more I’m realizing it, the more it hurts when I feel that what I’ve chosen to do with it is not empowering to me.
On another, more ‘activist’ note, I was dissapointed to hear that this weeks episode of ‘America’s Next Top Model’ featured the models posing in a slaughterhouse/meatpacking house – actually wearing peices of raw meat and posing next to carcasses. Most of the models in this show are in their late teens and 20’s, and I just imagined young girls (or anyone, really) watching this episode and seeing this obvious link of death/meat/dead animals with sexiness and allure.
I ended up watching the episode and was interested to note that the photos that were shot were some of the worst of the entire competition, seemingly due to the obvious discomfort and disgust displayed by some of the models, despite that, as far as I could tell, none of them were veg. Perhaps just my perception, but I felt like I could see the part of them that was a bit irkedby finally seeing the reality of slaughterhouses.
I’m not one to get angry about this sort of thing, but it just means we need to continue to make beautiful live foods and a plant based, natural diet and lifestylethe obvious representation of beauty and vitality – that’s where the focus needs to be, and we’ll blow them all out of the water! YOU, who are representing this, are leaders in this, so stand tall and bold and be proud of the vibrant, healthful, joyous future you represent!!
