Spirulina Fanaticism
Christmas here in southern Arizona is a rather interesting one – I’ve always lived places that most definitely have snow this time of year, always the ideal postcard ‘Winter Wonderland’. This year, as well as last year, I’ve gotten to experience a desert winter, and I must say I am falling more and more in love with it. I ate my spirulina salad lunch on the sundeck today in my skirt and tshirt and the sun was oh so warm and the weather oh so perfect. Sometimes I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to live in a place that gets cold and/or cloudy….
I’ve been doing the parasite cleanse from HealthForce Nutritionals. It’s about an 18 day cleanse and today is only day 5. Haven’t noticed anything substantial yet, but we’ll see. Who knows, maybe I don’t have parasites Unlikely, considering my dietary history.
I just love spirulina. It has become an absolute staple for me, and I just can’t get enough of it – my taste buds are bonkers for it. You don’t even know how many times I’ve turned down raw chocolate over the opportunity to have spirulina and sprouts. Maybe a craving for protein? Chlorphyll? I don’t know, but I’m loving it. Sea veggies feel phenomenal as well.
I’ve maintained exercise and definitely feel like the juice feast has somehow awakened both my desire and ability to gain a lot from physical activity. Flexibility is an important priority for me right now as well.
A few questions from readers:
I notice a lot of raw foodists mentioning they find it’s best to eat fruit separately from other foods, however, I also notice that the same people juice fruits and veggies together. Is it different in juice or they’re not noticing the contradiction? I’m not as hung up on the ‘rules’ as I might sound, but just happy to have somewhere to ask these questions as I get further into raw.
Hi there. You know, I’m actually laughing in response to this question becuase I’m bewildered at the fact that I’ve never thought about that before you asked Truly, I’m not sure why I feel this way, but for me, there is something about the juice of greens and the juice of fruit that seems to be less mild when digested in combination than when the whole foods are combined. That’s as far as I can really explain it – just do what feels right for your body.
What has your sleep schedule been like lately? Some people give me crap for sleeping so little…thinking that we need more. They just dont know though.
I slept less during the juice feast and am continuing to sleep less now. I would say I sleep on average 7 hours per night, which seems to be a good set point for me. I have never had sleeping trouble – I can fall asleep very easily and quickly whether I go to bed at 8:30 pm or I go to bed at 11:30 pm. Interestingly, despite my ability to easily fall asleep, I am not necessarily tired in the way people talk about being fatigued or wiped out – I am just a bit sleepy. Fatigue is truly not a part of my life experience anymore.
Merry Christmas to all, happy celebrations to those who do! My gratitude and love with you always.
