Feeling Emotions is a Productive Use of Time
Remedying the true causes of overeating is a process of emotional healing. This takes time.
We need soul space and soul time. We need to take time out to discover our emotions through journaling, educating ourselves about emotions and eating through reading books, listening to podcasts, or watching videos. Having quiet, undistracted time with ourselves is required.
Often we feel guilty or nervous about this. Most all of us have been brought up with some form of a belief system that says we cannot or should not take so much time for a thing like this.
Maybe we feel it's selfish, or indulgent. We might feel it's not a productive use of time and we need to be doing other things that we've deemed "productive".
But what is a more important use of your time than healing your own soul?
Discovering and allowing ourselves to feel all our feelings is a way of living which results in healing compulsive eating. This means that we can achieve an end to dieting, permanent maintenance of a healthy weight, and solve nutritionally-related health problems.
The emotional healing process also improves our relationship with ourselves, others, and God. It connects us with passions and creativity and enthusiasm for life.
The way I have come to see it is that taking the time for these emotional healing processes is an incredibly good use of time and extremely productive. It is beyond valid and a very self-responsible way to spend time.
So I urge you to question any belief you have that discovering and feeling your emotions, and engaging in soul-healing work, is unproductive. You are worthy of taking time out to heal yourself and love yourself.
Discovering and feeling your emotions is a productive use of your time!
