Epicness Indeed
Blog naming is a lot more difficult when I can’t just name it the day of the Juice Feast I’m on I’m just not quite sure what to name these blogs… Maybe I should just choose titles that are completely random and not having anything to do with the the actual subject of the blog?
Some of you have requested the ‘how to’ make coconut kefir. I actually wrote this in my blog early in the Juice Feast, please click here to see that post.
My main focus at this point is bringing my body into an optimal state via personalizing my diet and exercise and movement. I’ve never really ever in my life found a really perfect balance in my diet, and the last few years I’ve been neglecting physical exercise. Of all the categories of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual, I actually feel that the physical is the one that needs the most attention, and especially to find what works best for me – so many of us try to do what others are doing because it seems to work for them, and that, quite frankly, is rather insane.
Bodily health and well being, in my experience and opinion, consists of three important peices, along with some commentary:
1) Living an optomistic life chock full of love and joy
I know for sure that no perfect diet and outstanding exercise regime will make up for a physiology doused with the thoughts of fear, anger, closure, or any other limiting thought pattern. Thus, I have put the importance of our general mood and outlook as the most important factor in creating a spectacular physical body. Quantum physics would likely verify this idea.
2) Physical Exercise
I’ve begun (and kept up) a consistent practice of running up ‘the hill’ here at the Tree every day before lunch – quite a good cardio exercise for the day. I’ve also taken on doing about 45 – 60 minutes of workout every other morning, consisting of weights, followed by various floor exercise, followed by yoga.
3) Individualized diet/supplement intake
Individualiation as far as diet and supplements is SO important. Just because we are raw, does not mean that we can all eat the same thing and keep in balance. Please keep in mind as you read that what works for me may or may not work for you. It is each of our responsibility to find the best kind of dietary intake for our bodies and lives.
One of the steps I’m taking next is to schedule a BBB test (abbrevation for Bio-Brain-Body Assessment). It is one of the tests we do here at the Tree of Life to determine a person’s metabolic/autonomic consitution to help individualize a diet, including how much protein, carbohydrates, and fats are best for a particular person. Although I haven’t take it yet, I suspect that I am a ‘slow oxidizer’, which will most likely mean that I need less protein, more carbohydrates, and very little fat. This is just what I feel intuitively, although it will be interesting to see what actually shows up.
I’ve been cutting down even more on my fat intake, which feels great for my consitution. I’m also doing a totally low glycemic diet at the moment, which also feels great – lots and lots of greens, a little fat, no fruit or sweeteners (aside from the occasional stevia which doesn’t raise blood sugar). I’ve been on a very low glycemic diet for over a year now and it has felt perfect. It was only during the Juice Feast that I even had fruit at all. It’s interesting that I’ve had a huge amount of fruit in my kitchen for over a week now and I just don’t have any interest in it…
Lastly, the long term goal is just to eat less. I’m doing this as slow as my body and mind feels comfortable with it, but an overall lighter diet feels best for me.
And with THAT, I hope YOU are feeling fantastic right now! I surely am.
