60 Day Juice Feast – Day 45
Wow, today I fit into a size 6 pants… I haven’t been this size for over two years. Crazy to think that in a year I’ve gone from a size 14 to a size 6, just through the raw food diet and some Juice Feasting. I haven’t weighed myself for while, so I’m not sure where I am at in regards to weight loss, and it feels good not to know – its nice to let that go for a bit.
My good friend Blair Boudousquie of Wild-Health.com broke his Juice Feast today, after 60 days on juice! He had a remarkable journey, and you can see him talk about his feast as well as eat his first meal by clicking here. Congratulations Blair!
Today’s Feast, in order of consumption:
34 oz. orange juice w/ 1/2 TBS MSM and 1/2 TBS Nature’s First Food
32 oz. green juice w/ lemon, ginger, cayenne, turmeric and salt
32 oz. romaine/garden greens/apple juice
1 TBS honey
32 oz. orange juice w/ 1/2 TBS MSM and 1/2 TBS Nature’s First Food
A few questions from readers:
You said that your family isn’t into the health food as you are. Did you find it difficult to start down this path in that kind of environment? I’m curious because my family (parents especially) are not into a raw, or vegan lifestyle as I am becoming. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.
They are not into health food, really. None of my family is vegetarian or vegan, either. Hmm… it was sort of difficult at first. When I first got into natural health and organics, I was 17. As time went on, I learned more and more and more and delved deeper and deeper into health, diet, and spirituality. At first, I was very pushy about everything, pressuring them to believe, accept, understand, and adopt everything that I had. Over time, however, I have softened my approach and do not need them to believe or adopt everything that I have. Everyone will come to this information when it is right for them, and to allow that process to unfold is the most respectful thing I can do. Pushing never got them to do anything, and if anything, it drove them further away. While my family has never really adopted any of this themselves, over time they have become more interested, and they have always supported what works best for me. I’m very grateful for this. I think the greatest thing is to come from a place of non-judgement and patience. It has been slow, but my family has begun to adopt some of the things that are important to me. It is likely to happen over time, and we who are living this lifestyle teach best by our example. I have been able to find community, support, and that mutual enthusiasm elsewhere, including via the online community, and a huge part is the community here at the Tree of Life.
Your blog is a source of radiant information and I’d like to thank you for sharing your journey, its precious. I haven’t been through all your posts and I was wondering if you’ve tried to go for a few days without any sugars at all – no fruit juice, no honey, no bee pollen and no stevia, cut out the sweet taste completely – and what has been your experience of doing that??
You are most welcome, thank you for the opportunity to share it! I haven’t done a no sugar Juice Feast day yet, but its funny you ask because I have been thinking about it. Thus far I haven’t had access to as much greens, celery, cukes and other non sweet produce as I would need for that, but I bet I could manage it for a day or a few. Perhaps I’ll do it just because you asked, and hey, why not? It might be interesting. I have, however, done about 2 months on what Dr. Gabriel Cousens calls the ‘phase 1 rainbow green diet’. Earlier this year I was doing a msotly phase 1, sometimes phase 1.5 for about 9 weeks, in which I did not eat any sweet fruit, any agave or honey, coconut water, dates, or anything else sweet. The sweetest thing I ate, which was occasional, was gogi berries (on the phase 1.5 chart). This experiment was actually amazing because I felt quite a shift in my mental and emotional states – I experienced much more levelness of my mood and clarity of mind, including a steady sense of centeredness, by eating such a low sugar diet. The pitfall is that I didn’t eat enough greens, and got into eating too much fat (nuts, seeds, avocados, etc), which is just as bad for you as eating too much sugar, so I would love to try it again now that I have healed some of the emotional and physical imbalances which led me to indulge in the excess fatty foods. In fact, as I’m tuning into my body more and more on this feast, I know that when I go back to food, I will choose to eat a low glycemic diet, for the most part. I have been learning more and more the importance of greens. It’s something I feel very intuitively as I am cleaner and cleaner inside, and also someting David Rain really advocates, which he’ll be talking about more in his upcoming book, “Four Means to Get Your Greens.” David and his wife Katrina absolutely commit to eaing one to two pounds of greens per day (each!), and this is exactly what I plan to do as well. It will be interesting blogging about that whole shift as well – I have never gotten that many greens in per day ever, and most people don’t – its a huge amount of greens. Keep updated The 1-2 lb greens experiment!
Love to you all tonight, its a rainy cozy evening in Arizona, and I fly back home tomorrow!
